I got this announcement from Facebook. It’s the 3rd Cambodia International Film Festival that will take place from 07-12 December 2012.
The event is organized by the Bophana Center and the Cambodia Film Commission.
At the opening ceremony this year, they will have guests, celebrities and international film professorial walk on the red carpet at Legend Cinema.
I believe this is the first time that we have similar kind of Oscar event
I checked out the programs and here are the few films I know and will check them out at the festival:
1. Comfortably Lost I watched the trailer few month ago but didn’t find any additional information of the film. It surprised me to see the film in the list of the films that will show on the festival. It definitely a good time to catch it.
Comfortably Lost is a story of a young New York photographer takes an impulsive trip to Cambodia and allows the journey to be the destination.
It’s an independent film, written and directed by Quentin Clausin. I could see how much he loves Cambodia through his work in this film.
He now called for fund to distribute the film. You can support him via this Kickstarter. You still have 15 days more to fund this project.
Here is the trailer of the film:
2. We Wanna Build a School in Cambodia This Japanese film became popular recently. I don’t think it was showing in Cambodia yet or maybe I missed the opportunity. It’s a true story. You can read details on my previous blog post to know more about the film: We Wanna Build a School in Cambodia.
3. I Have Loved I love the trailer of this movie. I included it few months ago in 2012 Watchlist of Foreign Films made in Cambodia.
Most parts of the film was shot in Siem Reap.
4. Angkor, The Land of Gods It’s a 3D film about Angkor. I could not find much description of the film. But here is what I watched so far and it looks like a film not to be missed as well.
See you at the festival!
